Eventful Masters Swimming Season

1st July 2023

The annual Richmond Dales ASC presentation evening brought a lovely suprise for me tonight.

After lots of exciting competition fun this season, including the English and British Championships and qualifying for the European Masters Swimming Championships in Rome and the World Masters Swimming Championships in Japan, I had to navigate my way up on stage in my heels (more of a challenge than swimming fast) to receive my award for oustanding achievement.

I trust that all the intermitted hypoxic training during my daily SOMA Breath routine has helped me to succeed.

Specific breath-hold exercises will teach our body to find comfort in keeping our head under water. When we feel like we're running out of breath, our body is actually trying to exhale to get rid of the CO2 buildup. However, CO2 actually helps with O2 absorption. Once we become comfortable with our breath-holds, our muscle oxygenation will improve. These improvements will result in better performance and speed in races, especially sprints.

Bring on next season.
